From Arizona, trans sex worker rights activist Monica Jones joins local trans community leaders for a panel that addresses the issues of trans women being sex workers, sex worker stigma in the LGBTQ community, trans rights, sex worker rights, and organizing tactics through stories of survival and resistance.

Monica Jones is a student at ASU who recently gained entrance into the university’s School of Social Work, and a member of SWOP Phoenix (Sex Worker Outreach Project). In May 2013 she was profiled and falsely arrested through a prostitution diversion program called Project Rose, which she had spoken out and organized against earlier in 2013. As her case has unfolded and organizing has built power against it, Monica Jones has continued to be harassed by police.

Panelists include:
Monica Jones, SWOP Phoenix
Miss Major Griffin-Gracy & Janetta Johnson, TGI Justice Project
Vanessa Warri
Aria Sa’id

This event is a fundraiser for Monica Jones’ ongoing defense campaign and is co-sponsored by:
Brown Boi Project, El/La Para TransLatinas, CUAV, St. James Infirmary, SWOP Bay Area/SWOP Phoenix, TGI Justice Project, Transgender Law Center, and Trans March
